On August 1, CambridgeSide Galleria kicked off the fourth annual Pack a Backpack School Supply Drive benefiting children and families served by East End House in Cambridge. Over the past three years, Mall visitors have donated thousands of pencils, markers and notebooks that are packed into backpacks and donated to local children. Last year alone over 125 backpacks were distributed to young students through East End House.

This year because of the economic downturn, it’s even tougher for families to provide supplies for their children’s education. That’s why CambridgeSide is getting the word out and asking patrons to stop by the Customer Service Desk on Level 2 and make a small donation. Local businesses and employees are also invited to collect school supplies for this important drive. Donations will be accepted through Thursday, August 20, 2009.
