John E. Twohig is involved in all real estate projects at New England Development, where he has particular responsibility for complex land use projects and zoning and permitting matters, in addition to land acquisitions, title issues and financing arrangements. He brings to New England Development extensive experience working with federal and state regulatory agencies, city and town officials, boards and commissions.
Prior to joining New England Development in early 2017, Mr. Twohig was a senior partner at Goulston & Storrs, specializing in real estate and finance. He represented leading owners and developers of real estate, including New England Development, in numerous projects throughout New England, including the acquisition, permitting and development of new, and existing, regional shopping centers. He also represented New England Development in the planning and permitting of mixed-use residential, retail and office complexes in Chestnut Hill and Westwood, Massachusetts, as well as Pier 4 in Boston’s Seaport District. Mr. Twohig is also involved in New England Development projects in Nantucket and Newburyport, Massachusetts, where New England Development maintains a wide variety of hospitality, retail, restaurant and residential properties.
Mr. Twohig is Vice Chairman of Old Colony, one of the oldest, largest and most diverse YMCA and social services organizations in New England. He is a long-time member of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts.
Mr. Twohig received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Boston College Law School and his Bachelor of Arts Degree, Summa Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa from Boston College.
