Michael J. Sharlet has been appointed General Manager of Nantucket’s historic Jared Coffin House and the Cottages & Lofts at the Boat Basin. In his new role Mr. Sharlet will oversee operations at two of the island’s premier properties, both part of the Nantucket Island Resorts collection, which was recently named “Top Places to Work” for the second year in a row by The Boston Globe. The hotel collection also includes The Wauwinet, White Elephant, White Elephant Village, and Nantucket Boat Basin.
Sharlet brings extensive hospitality experience to the position. He most recently served as Resort Manager and Director of Operations at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Chatham, Massachusetts. Prior to that position, he spent more than fifteen years in operational roles with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts at properties in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Atlanta and Philadelphia.
“We are pleased to welcome Michael Sharlet to the Nantucket Island Resorts family to bring his luxury expertise to the operation of our hotels. We know our guests will enjoy his passionate attention to detail and commitment to excellence, which blends perfectly with our meticulous hospitality,” said Khaled Hashem, Managing Director of Nantucket Island Resorts.
Built by and named for one of Nantucket’s original whaling captains, the Jared Coffin House is the only Nantucket Island Resort property open year-round. Set on a prime corner of downtown, the hotel is ideal for guests looking to have immediate access to restaurants and boutiques.
The Cottages & Lofts perched overlooking the waterfront sit alongside the slips of the Nantucket Boat Basin. This unbeatable location offers a unique vantage point to take in the harbor and explore Nantucket Town just steps away. Guests traveling with pets enjoy designated pet-friendly cottages and the use of our Beach Bus to reach island beaches.
