Ninth Annual Run + Ride at CambridgeSide Draws over 575 Area Kids

FREE Kids Only Duathlon featured biking and running around CambridgeSide

CAMBRIDGE, MA (August 2018) –The ninth annual Run + Ride was held at Canal Park at CambridgeSide ( on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The free kids-only duathlon featured biking and running around CambridgeSide. City of Cambridge, Mayor Marc McGovern provided opening remarks for the event that drew over 575 children.

“Run + Ride at CambridgeSide is a wonderful day in the city for families, and we were delighted to have such an enthusiastic crowd this year,” explains CambridgeSide Senior Marketing Director Melissa LaVita. “The day featured exciting races, lots of entertainment, family kayaking, giveaways and so much more.  The unique partnership with local leaders, city agencies, sponsors, partners, volunteers and participants make this community event a huge success,” she concluded. 

Run + Ride at CambridgeSide is a complimentary event for kids 5 to 13 years old and features summer fun for the whole family with iPads awarded to each race winner. (Races are not timed and the course is handicap accessible. All abilities are welcome.)  Run + Ride at CambridgeSide is a community partnership with NBC Boston, City of Cambridge Department of Human Service Programs, Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Police Department, Cambridge Public Health Department, UG2, LAZ Parking, United Security Incorporation, Kone, Mechanical Construction Services, Urban AdvenTours and more.
