Liberty Tree Mall New England Development founder Stephen R. Karp opens Liberty Tree Mall, one of the first enclosed malls in the Northeast, in Danvers, Massachusetts.

1977

Mall of New Hampshire Opens Mall of New Hampshire, opens in Manchester, New Hampshire and enjoys resounding success as the first shopping center to be built in the state.

1982

Apple Blossom Mall Opens Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, Virginia opens.

1983

Arsenal Mall Opens Arsenal Mall in Watertown, Massachusetts opens.

1986

Pheasant Lane Mall Opens Pheasant Lane Mall opens in Nashua, New Hampshire.

1988

Northshore Mall New England Development acquired Northshore Mall in Peabody, Massachusetts in 1993, transforming this 1.5 million square foot center into an unparalleled shopping destination.

Square One Mall Opens Square One Mall opens on Route 1 in Saugus, Massachusetts.

1995

One Charles Park Opens in Cambridge One Charles Park is one of the two office buildings planned by New England Development as part of the CambridgeSide mixed-use development.

LaGuardia Airport, Central Terminal MarketPlace Development's redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport's Central Terminal opens.

1999

Simon Acquires Mall Portfolio Simon Property Group acquires a portfolio from New England Development of 14 regional malls and assumes management responsibilities from NED's affiliated management company, WellsPark Management LLC.

The portfolio, including ten properties in Massachusetts, two in New Hampshire and one each in Connecticut and Virginia, totals 10.6 million square feet.

1999

Two Canal Park Opens at CambridgeSide Two Canal Park, developed by New England Development as part of the CambridgeSide mixed-use development, opened in 1999.

2000

New International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport Opens San Francisco International Airport's New International Terminal opened in December 2000. The food and beverage program - the result of MarketPlace Development's responsibilities for tenant outreach, leasing, and construction management.
