New England Development founder Stephen R. Karp opens Liberty Tree Mall, one of the first enclosed malls in the Northeast, in Danvers, Massachusetts.

Mall of New Hampshire Opens

Simon Acquires Mall Portfolio
Simon Property Group acquires a portfolio from New England Development of 14 regional malls and assumes management responsibilities from NED's affiliated management company, WellsPark Management LLC.
The portfolio, including ten properties in Massachusetts, two in New Hampshire and one each in Connecticut and Virginia, totals 10.6 million square feet.
