West Palm Beach, Fla. — As many as 50 middle and high school-aged girls will be given the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of Palm Beach Outlets on Sat., Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Co-organized by Girls II Women, a non-profit organization, and Palm Beach Outlets, it’s all part of an event that includes lunch, a tour, educational presentations, and, at last, shopping.
Pam Rada, director of marketing, will lead a discussion about women in retail jobs and career opportunities, hospitality, and restaurants. Jockey and Saks are among the stores that will be participating with presentations with helpful tips.
“Oftentimes girls are only thinking about shopping rather than career opportunities in retail,” said Ann Marie Sorrell. “This will be an opportunity for them to look at a career path that they may not have thought about before — from part-time jobs to building a work ethic.”
“Events like these are one way we reach out to the community,” said Rada.
Girls II Women is a nonprofit organization established in 1997 to help girls in underserved neighborhoods in Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach and Belle Glade achieve their full personal and professional potential. Girls II Women educates, inspires and motivates girls, helping them build their self-esteem, knowledge, awareness and social skills.
Palm Beach Outlets, located directly off Interstate 95 on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach, is Palm Beach County’s first outlet center.
