Final preps underway at Outlets of Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — The countdown is on and we are less than five days away from the opening of the Outlets of little Rock.

The 325,000 square foot shopping mall located near Bass Pro Shops will open to the public on Friday, which means these next few days its full steam ahead for those working behind the scenes.

“It’s exciting but its hectic and chaotic, we like to call it organized chaos,” said Melissa Boyle with the Outlets of Little Rock.

It’s the only way to describe it as the clock ticks down to the grand opening of the Outlets of Little Rock.

“Right now we’ve got trucks coming in and we’ve got tractors behind me and walkie talkies going off. We’ve got skylifts everywhere. It’s still a construction site,” said Boyle.

“We’ve got jellybeans and M&M’s and gummies…everything just waiting to be put out.”

Stephanie Harris, the owner of Sweet Candy and Gifts has been working day and night to get her store ready for Friday.

“There is never enough time so as late as I stay every night I know I’m going to have to get up in the morning and do it all over.”

From hanging shelves to filling candy jars.

“Our big fixtures aren’t coming in til’ tomorrow afternoon so we will basically have a day to get all the candy in them and try to do our last minute cleaning and picking up.”

The big day is just around the corner for her and more than 70 other shop owners.

“A month ago it felt like we had plenty of time but now that were here it’s pretty daunting!”

And while there’s still much left to be done both inside and out, the promise of what’s to come is well worth the chaos.

“They’ll be ready. Like I said its organized chaos but its amazing to watch,” said Boyle.

A ribbon cutting will be held on Friday morning at 9:30, officially opening the outlets to shoppers.

Some of the 70 plus stores will open at a later date.
