Palm Beach Outlets First Anniversary

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) – The Palm Beach Outlets is celebrating its first year anniversary on Saturday, Valentine’s Day. The shopping location opened with 90 stores and today has more than 130 with a few more yet to open.

Pam Rada, the Palm Beach Outlets marketing director, says this year alone they have attracted about 10-million visitors adding, “Tourists are many of the people coming here to shop.”

With all the traffic and stores, means jobs. Right now the outlets employ about 1,500 people.

Rada also tells CBS12 the outlet mall’s attraction has helped businesses in the area, “the Best Western across the street has sales numbers they haven’t seen in decades.”

There are events going on tomorrow for the one year celebration. A major league eating contest is honoring mothers who gave birth on Valentine’s Day, there are hourly raffles, there’s live music and activities for the kids starting at 11am.

During the anniversary event the Palm Beach Outlets is open normal business hours 10am-9pm.
