Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza to Open First Massachusetts Location at University Station Westwood June 2

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – May 12, 2015 – Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, a casual dining concept that uses authentic 800-degree coal-burning ovens to create “well done pizza,” will open its first Massachusetts location Tuesday, June 2. The restaurant will be located at 119 University Avenue inside the new University Station in Westwood.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, which includes founder/CEO Anthony Bruno and NFL Hall of Fame legend Dan Marino among several equity partners, debuted its first location in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 2002 and has expanded to nearly 50 restaurants throughout Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

“We’re excited to bring our coal fired pizza and Italian Soul Food to the Boston area where people really know good food,” said Bruno. “We expect our Westwood restaurant to be a huge success and already have plans for future locations.”

Hours of operation for the Westwood location will be 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  In addition to dining in, patrons can carry out by calling 781-329-3339.

Known for its high energy atmosphere and simple menu, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza uses 800-degree coal burning ovens to create a “well done” taste. With a focus on fresh ingredients and authentic recipes, Anthony’s signature menu includes traditional and specialty pizzas with dough made fresh daily; coal oven roasted chicken wings; large homemade meatballs from a recipe passed down by Anthony’s grandmother; a classic Italian salad with original dressing; and Eggplant Marino (Dan’s favorite).

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza was voted Best Pizzeria, Best Wings, Best Meatballs and Best Service in the 2014 Sun Sentinel/SouthFlorida.com Best of South Florida readers’ poll, and has been chosen Best Pizza by the Miami Herald, Miami.com, Palm Beach Post and WFLA’s iHeart Tampa Bay. The brand was featured in the New York Times, has received rave reviews from Newsday, and was declared “The Best Pizza Chain in America” by USA Today’s Great American Bites.

Anthony’s food and service continually are ranked “very good to excellent” by Zagat Survey, the distinguished dining and entertainment ratings guide, and is voted “Top 5 Most Popular” and “#1 Pizza” in Zagat’s America’s Top Restaurants edition.
