CAMBRIDGE, MA (February 2016) – Fava Bean, a Mediterranean restaurant, will open in the Food Court at CambridgeSide in Spring 2016. This will be the first Fava Bean in the United States; the founders of Fava Bean presently have multiple eat-in restaurants with similar fare in Malaysia.
Fava Bean’s overall concept dates back to 2008 when as college students a group of brothers and childhood friends found themselves scattered around the world between the US and Malaysia with one thing in common – missing quality Middle Eastern food. The group decided to create their own start-up Middle Eastern restaurant in the heart of Malaysia; the concept quickly gained popularity and the group was able to open several additional restaurants since.
The restaurateurs will continue in their quest to bring Americans quality Mediterranean food through the opening of their first United States location at CambridgeSide in the Food Court. The newly-developed concept, Fava Bean is named just that simply because it is the primary ingredient used in the making of falafel, a Mediterranean staple. The concept is modern, fast delivery of traditional quality flavors.
“The concept is based on using fresh ingredients and making small frequent batches made to customer’s order to preserve taste and quality. Our goal is to become a part of the daily meal options for people in the area. We selected our location in CambridgeSide because of the diversity of cultures in the area,” explains one of the founders of Fava Bean. “Our menu will consist of chicken and steak shawarmas, falafel, hummus, salads, and lentil soup. A customer will be able to select a sandwich or a bowl and customize it to their taste. Our menu will be friendly and affordable to everyone.”
