CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS (September 2025) – CambridgeSide has announced the upcoming opening of Gato Exotico, a vibrant new dining concept from the award-winning team behind Wusong Road, recently named one of the most beautiful restaurants and bars in America by People Magazine. Opening in late 2025, Gato Exotico reimagines the energy of 1990’s mall dining with a modern twist, creating a lively space that feels tropical, colorful, and a bit nostalgic.
The menu will showcase the flavors of Mexico with regional specialties including mole negro from Oaxaca, cochinita pibil slow roasted in banana leaves from the Yucatán, and bright ceviche’s that bring the spirit of Tulum’s beaches to the table. Alongside these classics there will be playful street food, inspired bites, and shareable plates designed for gathering.
Drinks will echo the same spirit of fun and craft with the focus on mezcal and tequila cocktails, mixed with fresh tropical fruits and juices, all served in the custom artist designed glassware.
“I grew up going to CambridgeSide and have strong memories of spending time there as a teenager after school at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. That is the spirit we wanted to capture with Gato Exotico. We are so excited to be part of CambridgeSide – a reimagining of a contemporary mall in the heart of the city, bringing that sense of community forward with modern food, cocktails, and an immersive atmosphere that nods to the playful thematic dining experiences of the 1990’s,” says Chef and Owner Jason Doo.
